It was used as the royal residence and later as the state headquarters of the kingdom till the middle of the 17th century. The stones used in the construction of the fort were brought from the fort situated on the other side of the Naggar. The major attraction of this temple that catches most tourists with surprise is the small wooden temple inside the castle called Jagati Patt temple. The carvings of Naggar Castle give you the glimpse of how skillful the artsmen were in those olden times. However, the castle has now been converted into a Tourism Department Hotel to promote tourism in the area providing magnificent views of the Kullu valley.
